Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Short version
Salaty collects no data about you. Everything the app needs, including your location, stays on your phone. The Android app doesn't even have permission to use the internet, so it can't send anything anywhere.
What the app stores, and where
| What | Why | Where it stays | How to delete it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your approximate location, or the city you picked | To calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction | Only on your phone | Settings → Reset, or uninstall the app |
| Your settings (method, alerts, adjustments) | To remember your choices | Only on your phone | Settings → Reset, or uninstall the app |
| Scheduled prayer alerts | To play the athan and reminders on time | Only on your phone | Turn alerts off, Reset, or uninstall |
The app does not back up this data to Google Drive or iCloud.
What the app does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in.
- No ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting services, no tracking.
- No selling or sharing of data. There is no data to share: nothing leaves your phone.
- No precise location: the app asks only for your approximate location, and only when you tap "Use my location" or "Use compass".
- No background location: the location is read only while the app is open.
Permissions the app asks for
- Approximate location: to calculate prayer times for where you are, and for the compass on the Qibla screen. You can pick a city instead.
- Notifications: to show the athan and reminders.
- Alarms & reminders (Android): so the athan arrives on time, not minutes late.
- Start at boot (Android, automatic): to set your alerts again after the phone restarts.
Children
Salaty is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. It has no ads, no chat and no purchases.
Links that leave the app
The app may open this page or its store page in your web browser. Those websites have their own privacy rules; the app itself sends nothing.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. We will never start collecting data without saying so here first, and in the app.
